The Digital Audio Producer will play an integral role in developing and executing the day-to-day editorial and production vision for ESPN Daily. Every weekday, this original podcast offers depth, insight and an enterprising yet irreverent approach to sports journalism. Top candidates for this role will demonstrate a strong work ethic, exceptional journalistic and editorial instincts, a thorough understanding of the sports calendar and creative production technique. The ideal candidate is a writer/storyteller with a proven track record for producing high-quality narrative content, problem-solving and is experienced working in a deadline-oriented and fast-paced environment. The Digital Producer plays a critical role in planning and pre/post-production, nimbly covering breaking news and next-day episodes while simultaneously leading production on relevant, artfully constructed episodes.

Responsibilities:

Develops, advances and executes ideas and concepts both in daily productions and for long-term planning. Understands ESPN content priorities in planning episodes and integrating with other ESPN platforms, including the ESPN App and YouTube.
Collaborates with producers and editors across ESPN teams to ensure the depth and breadth of reporting and storytelling is represented in the program.
Monitors ESPN content, national and regional sports news, websites, newspapers, publications, mail, email, pitches and newswires for story ideas, developments and background.
Produces and creates exceptional quality program segments and episodes that are consistent with the content, quality and production standards and practices of ESPN.
Works with podcast leadership to edit episodes for length, editorial content and timeliness.
Has an expertise of production principles designed to drive consumption of podcast downloads and video views.
Books contributors, guests and interviews.
Manages recording and remote studio logistics.
Researches library assets to find audio resources associated with interview or segment topic.
Edits segments and/or raw tape of reporter and source interviews in Adobe Audition.
Pre-interviews reporters and sources.
Works with host, producers and editors on interview structure, strategy and technique.
Builds stories using interviews, archive materials, natural sound and music.
Works with audio engineer to finalize technical aspects of the show.
Has strong social media/listener engagement skills. Digital Producer will refine and execute overall audience development strategy for shows at the direction of the podcast leadership team.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of radio/audio production experience with strong journalistic/editorial instincts and background as a writer/producer.
In-depth knowledge of a wide range of subject areas related to sports.
Strong familiarity with ESPN content across all platforms.
Curiosity; interest in sports and beyond.
Smart conversationalist with outstanding writing, editing and interview skills.
Thorough understanding of how to operate audio hardware, software and facilities.
Demonstrated digital editing expertise using Adobe Audition.
Knowledge of Descript audio software.
Ability to work varied shifts.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadline pressure.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with remote recording software such as Zoom, Squadcast or Riverside
Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects
Experience in editorial news and journalism

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $63,386 - $85,030 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
