PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Digital Reporter serves as an officer of the court and is responsible for the audio capture, control of the proceedings as an officer of the court, and preservation of the verbatim record in selected-type depositions and other juridical proceedings in approved jurisdictions. The duties will be performed using digital recording technology based on the Company’s mission, standards, and best practices.
In this role the Digital Reporter effectively and professionally interacts with internal and external clients and creates clients for life by acting with integrity and delivering excellent customer service.
This role will be critical in the execution of the Company’s strategy for the delivery of its digital reporting product and includes working closely with assigned field operations teams to accomplish this mission. The Digital Reporter will also be assigned tasks at their designated field office to assist in the daily operations when their schedule allows.
JOB DUTIES:
· Commitment to following AAERT’s and Esquire’s best practices and standards for digital reporting and recording in the daily execution of job duties;
· Perform advance preparation for all job assignments, including building job worksheets, files, and review of case information;
· Provide setup of hardware for proceedings according to job specifications and ensure all hardware is tested immediately prior to commencement of the proceeding;
· Produce a quality and complete audio/video recording of the proceeding;
· Maintain control of the proceeding as the independent authority;
· Create detailed annotations of essential testimony for search, review, and transcription purposes;
· Provide playback of testimony and marking of exhibits when requested;
· Ensure all exhibits are secured, proper backup of all files is performed, and required worksheets completed and uploaded at close of proceeding;
· Perform a daily maintenance check of all hardware for proper working order for assignments and follow Esquire’s security requirements/mandates for the operational use of all hardware and software;
· Prepare and maintain all required reports, logs, and timely respond to all received communications;
· Organize work effectively and prioritize daily assignments while remaining flexible for changes in work schedule;
· Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while working independently and in an office environment; and
· Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS OR ABILITIES:
· Exhibit a courteous and professional demeanor with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with different roles within the legal community and the general public;
· Follow the Company’s standards and best practices for digital reporting and recording to ensure quality assurance measurements are met and the product delivered to clients meets the documented Esquire expectations;
· Working knowledge of court procedures, legal documents, and legal terminology;
· Working knowledge of digital audio/video recording technology;
· Provide effective, accurate, professional, polite, and prompt customer service to the legal community, public and co-workers;
· Maintain a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation;
· Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills and possess a strong sense of discretion;

· Familiarity with computer systems and Microsoft Office Suite; and
· Follow IT’s technical requirements in the administration of digital recording and reporting.
· Perform Remote Videography and Technician services as needed
· Take high-quality, professional video of the deposition
· Ensure there are no technical issues during the deposition
· For each deposition, comply with federal and state regulations in the videotaping of the deposition (i.e., begin the deposition with a statement on the record that includes the caption of the case, the name of the deponent, the videographer’s name and business address; the name and business address of the operator’s employer, the date, time and place of the deposition; and an identification of all persons present, in accordance with local laws and regulations)
· Maintain an objection log for each deposition and ensure attorneys are aware of time remaining on tape
· Promptly respond to any requests of attorneys present at depositions as well as to the needs of the court reporter
· Prepare the necessary paperwork to accurately track the particulars of the deposition (i.e. deponents name, case name and number, attorney billing information and copy orders, and total run time) and enter information into NetSuite
· Prepare media requested by the client and submit to Fulfillment Services in accordance with Esquire’s policies and procedures
· Perform exhibit presentation tasks as required
· Perform hosting duties during remote reporting jobs
· Perform additional duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
· Proficient in the English language, ability to read and interpret documents and instructions with a good working knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling;
· Required to obtain the American Association of Electronic Reporters’ (AAERT) Certified Electronic Reporter (CER) certification after completion of training and maintain an annual membership with AAERT to earn continuing education units (CEUs) for recertification;
· Required to obtain Esquire Deposition Solutions LLC’s Digital Reporter’s Certification;
· Maintain a Notary Public license;
· Minimum touch typing speed of 60 wpm with high degree of accuracy;
· Associate’s Degree in legal studies, communications, audio/visual technology, performance art, or military experience preferred; and/or
· Experience as a legal secretary/administrator, paralegal, legal videographer, or legal transcriptionist preferred.
MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS
· Successfully meeting expectations in the performance of daily assignments;
· Produce quality audio for accurate transcription/translation;
· Ability to interact with clients in a professional manner and provide support to clients during the proceedings;
· Provide detailed and accurate annotations for transcript preparation as defined by Esquire’s Best Practices Guide;
· Exceed quality control checks on audio production, annotations, completion of worksheets and order forms; and
· Support office operations effectively and efficiently, as needed.'
