Trustnet is a leading investment news and research website, serving UK-based fund investors with timely and pertinent information. As part of FE fundinfo, Trustnet provides comprehensive market analysis, expert insights and detailed fund data to assist investors in making informed decisions. From daily news stories and in-depth features to investment tools and fund comparisons, Trustnet is a trusted source of investment knowledge, making it an invaluable resource for both professional and private investors.
We're seeking a proactive editor who is not only comfortable handling daily news and features but is also eager to explore innovative story types and less-trodden journalistic paths. In this position, you'll enjoy a unique opportunity to significantly contribute to our content strategy, broaden your industry network and represent Trustnet at high-profile events.
Your key responsibilities as a News Editor will include to:
Write a news story or feature every day to a high standard
Support day-to-day running of the website (subbing, daily email, commissioning columns)
Run the editorial team in the editor's absence
Build and maintain a robust book of industry contacts and have familiarity with the PRs within the industry
Represent Trustnet professionally at industry events
Consider and implement new story types and take on exciting areas such as investigations, freedom of information requests and big topic stories
Actively monitor the news cycle and present timely and interesting stories to the editor that can be written with a short turnaround.
Provide support to journalists, aiding in their work whether it be through helping them generate ideas, polishing their articles or building their contacts
To join us as a News Editor, you will need the following skills and experience:
You must have extensive experience as a journalist within the finance industry
You must have solid experience producing high quality content on a daily basis
You must have a broad understanding of global financial history and its impact on present day
You must have exceptional writing skills and experience
You must have strong sub-editing skills, with the confidence to make changes to stories to others' work
You will have a keen eye for the new cycle and an understanding of what stories will be of interest to our audience
You will ideally have knowledge of the funds industry
You will ideally have a strong network of industry contacts
