Features Reporter

Responsibilities:

1. Story Development:

Generate unique and engaging feature story ideas that resonate with our readership
Research and pitch story concepts that align with current trends, community interests and journalistic standards.

2. Content Creation:

Write high-quality, well-researched features that captivate and inform our audience.
Conduct interviews and gather information from various sources to provide depth and authenticity to your stories
Collaborate with photographers, illustrators and multimedia teams to enhance the visual appeal of features
Create social media posts to promote your work

3. Deadline Management:

Meet tight deadlines while maintaining the quality and accuracy of content
Juggle multiple assignments and projects simultaneously

4. Community Engagement:

Establish and maintain relationships with community members, experts, and local influencers to stay informed about relevant topics
Attend events, conferences and community gatherings to uncover unique stories and perspectives.

5. Adaptability:

Stay informed about industry trends, cultural shifts and emerging topics to ensure the relevance of your features.
Adapt writing style to cater to the preferences of our diverse readership.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or a related field

- Proven experience as a features/investigative reporter (3-5 years)

- Strong writing, storytelling and editing skills

- Proficiency in digital media tools and platforms, including data analysis

- Excellent research and interview abilities & strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

- Knowledge of journalistic ethics and standards

Bonus: Video editing and on-cam reporting experience
