Financial Profiles is seeking an experienced financial journalist to fill a Vice President position in our financial communications practice. The right candidate will leverage their superior writing skills, ability to distill complex information into compelling stories, and understanding of the media landscape to plan and execute strategic communications programs for our clients.

Qualifications

We believe that financial journalists are ideally suited to fill our Vice President position as they have many of the qualifications necessary to succeed in the role:

• 5-7 years of experience in a leading financial news organization
• Strong understanding of Wall Street and the financial markets
• Experience and ability to cover financial services as well as other industries
• Unique perspective on how to best engage with the media
• Superior communications skills
• Outstanding writing and editing abilities
• An ability to take complex subject matter and turn it into an easy-to-follow narrative
• An inquisitive mind and passion for learning new things
• A tenacious and persistent approach to getting the job done
• A self-starter who can work well independently and as part of a team
• Undergraduate degree in journalism, English, business, communications, economics or finance desirable, but not necessary


Responsibilities

• Supporting the SVP of our financial communications practice to plan and execute strategic communications programs
• Work with clients to develop and enhance their corporate positioning and messaging
• Conduct media relations campaigns including advising on media strategy, determining story angles, identifying appropriate media targets, and pitching media to garner positive traditional and digital media coverage
• Draft media materials that convey each client’s key messages
• Identify and pursue speaking opportunities and awards for clients and the firm
• Stay abreast of changes and opportunities in the media landscape
• Monitor media and analyze/report on coverage
• Train and manage junior staff in media relations-related duties
• Assist with the media relations component of new business development efforts

Location

Based at company headquarters in Los Angeles or working remotely in New York City, Chicago or San Francisco.

Compensation Information

A highly competitive compensation package will be determined based on the experience of the candidate.
