The Financial Times has a temporary cover role for an acting political and diplomatic correspondent, based in Westminster. This position would suit a reporter willing to jump into one of the biggest political stories of our time, taking on immediate responsibility for covering the coronavirus crisis and its implications for UK politics, society and business. Key duties: Responsible for the health and education beat Coverage of foreign policy Break news and capable of turning around stories quickly Ability to look behind the headlines and deliver exclusives and analysis Ability to work across all FT platforms including video and audio, and engage with our audience through social media Weekend shifts are required as part of the team rota The successful candidate will be an all-rounder with an interest in politics, people and intrigue. They will have a proven track record of news reporting, strong analytical skills and solid news judgement. They will be an excellent team player within the Parliament team, as well as liaising with the newsroom. This is a temporary cover role for six months, potentially extended up to twelve months. The successful candidate should be ready to start before the summer break, if possible.
