Trade Reporter

New Posted 10 September 2019 | Washington, DC | Financial Times

We are creating a new position of Trade reporter, based in the DC bureau, working alongside James Politi, World Trade Editor, and writing primarily for our trade newsletter.

The job is an exciting opportunity to be part of one of the most intense, news-driven bureaus in the FT, as Donald Trump heads into his 2020 re-election campaign. Mr Trump has upended US trade policy since taking office, launching a bruising trade war with China, locking horns with the EU and Japan, and negotiating a new deal with Canada and Mexico that is facing big roadblocks in Congress. Also, possibly looming on the horizon are testy, post-Brexit trade talks with the UK.

The trade newsletter shares insights about the most important issues driving international trade - not just official negotiations and disputes but also how companies and technologies are shaping the new global economy. The daily newsletter will produce deep dives into trade issues and tell readers what else they need to read to be informed. It will invite outside guest experts to offer their take, and will speak to key players.
