The FT has an opening for a US labour and equality correspondent with a special focus on the economic disparities facing African-Americans and other ethnic minorities in the US. The position requires an enterprising journalist who will report on the financial, social and policy barriers limiting equal market participation in minority communities. The position will be based in either New York or Washington and the successful candidate will be an experienced correspondent with a background in economics, finance or business reporting. The beat offers vast scope to deliver a regular supply of homepage stories, from in-depth examinations of policy failures, to on-the-ground features illustrating labour market dysfunction, to breaking news on diversity and inclusion in the corporate sector. Although the beat will focus on breaking new ground, the correspondent will also be expected to jump on breaking stories, such as quick analysis of unemployment data.
