EU Correspondent

New Posted 2 April 2021 | Brussels, Belgium | Financial Times

The Financial Times is looking for an EU correspondent in our Brussels bureau from summer 2021. The reporter’s beat will focus on EU trade policy and the bloc’s post-Brexit relationship with the UK. The EU is in the midst of far-reaching discussions over the future of its trade policy, as member states grapple with economic nationalism and seek to define the EU’s concept of ‘open strategic autonomy’. The EU is seeking to assert itself more forcefully as it is buffeted by the economic rivalry between the US and China.

At the same time, the EU is coming to terms with an increasingly fractious relationship with the UK, the largest economy on its doorstep, as the two sides seek to bed down their brittle new economic partnership.
