Europe Express Editor

The Financial Times is seeking a dynamic and ambitious journalist to join our Brussels Bureau and commission, edit and contribute to our Europe Express newsletter. The newsletter, which runs Monday to Friday, is highly valued for its authoritative coverage of Europe. It covers a wide range of issues, including economic and foreign policy, national politics in European states and key legislative developments in Brussels. As its editor, you will work closely with the Lead Writer of Europe Express, who writes the top part of the newsletter every day. You will be expected to follow political debates, policy-making processes and economic developments in multiple countries to generate ideas for the briefing, as well as maintaining a regular dialogue with FT correspondents around Europe and in London. The editor will also be expected to write for the newsletter regularly, and to be a fully-fledged reporter in the Brussels Bureau – generating scoops and story ideas for our broader coverage of EU affairs and writing longer feature articles. You will help build the Europe Express brand with ideas for debates, conferences and new formats, analysing newsletter performance and tracking and communicating feedback from readers. This position will create opportunities for you to write on EU matters for other sections of the FT, working in conjunction with the Brussels bureau.
