Financial Reporter

Financial Times is hiring a Financial Reporter to work on Unhedged, our new daily email newsletter on markets and finance. The role is an entry-level position to work directly with the newsletter’s columnist, Robert Armstrong, the US financial commentator. It will entail digging into economic and financial data to build clear narratives using words, charts and data. Although a strong background in data analytics is preferred, the successful candidate will be trained on the use of multiple data platforms (Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Capital IQ) in order to contribute in a deadline-sensitive, daily publishing environment. You’ll also be comfortable calling busy Wall Street executives to ask detailed questions about fast-moving events. This is an exciting opportunity for early-career journalists with interests in financial and economic matters who are comfortable with technology. The position comes with a one-year contract, but the successful candidate may have the opportunity to move elsewhere within the FT. There will also be opportunities to work for other parts of the New York-based reporting team once commitments to Unhedged are met.
