Financial Times

Mexico & Central America Correspondent
The Financial Times has a vacancy for a correspondent in Mexico City to cover the United States' top trading partner and one of the biggest economies in the developing world. This is a super-stringer position. Despite the enormous economic and social changes brought about by free trade with North America, Mexico remains a country in thrall to a complex and ever-present history -- and to a populist leader adept at constructing his own narratives. Andrés Manuel López Obrador is remaking the country in a 1960s image, challenging the free-market orthodoxies of the past four decades, and unnerving investors and businesses in the process. The relationship with Washington, which covers everything from trade and investment to migration and drug trafficking, is a crucial part of the story.
