AFL Digital Reporter
As our AFL Digital Reporter, you will craft and edit exclusive, original and high-quality content that supports FOX SPORTS mantra as Australia’s sports entertainment leader that takes fans closer to the game. In this fast-paced and challenging role, the AFL Digital Reporter will be responsible for brilliant storytelling across our digital platforms.
Reporting to the Managing Editor, you will play an influential role in creating storytelling concepts and producing material that further entrenches FOX SPORTS’ reputation as an innovative and dynamic media business.
In this role you’ll have the opportunity to...
Produce, commission and edit content for all foxsports.com.au platforms, focusing on quality and speed of coverage with the ultimate goal of increasing user engagement, audience size and subscriptions to Foxtel & Kayo products
Be across all the key issues and events in sport to ensure appropriate coverage of breaking news, live events and talking points
Promote content on site and via social media channels, using engaging headlines, story sells, images and video
Take accountability for, and respond to, digital readership metrics to gain a better understanding of ever-changing user trends and deliver what our audience wants
Creation of fresh and engaging material in a unique format that establishes Fox Sports News as the benchmark in Sports entertainment
Liaise with Producers and Executive Producers to develop a style and tone that is consistent with the FOX SPORTS brand and aspirations
Provide editorial and technical support to the wider editing team
An understanding of sports and media broadcasting concepts and values
Your background should include:
1-2 years’ experience reporting at a digital sports news network
Experience working in an innovative news space, telling stories and engaging audiences in an exciting way
Detailed knowledge of a wide variety of sports, especially AFL
Extensive experience leveraging social media to tell your stories and drive traffic to websites and apps
You have a passion for sports and enjoy communicating that love to a broad audience
A desire to push boundaries and think better, different, special in our storytelling efforts
You are a team player, proactive and most importantly can hustle working across a number of sports and moments at one time
A Bachelor degree in Journalism, PR, Communications or similar
