Freelance Copywriter

Hunter Watson Memorial Fund is looking for a copywriter to join our team. We are looking for a creative, motivated individual who is passionate about copywriting and can work independently. The ideal candidate will be able to work with a wide range of clients and have an understanding of how to write compelling copy. The ideal candidate will also be able to work in a team environment and take direction from a team of writers.

Duties include:

Write compelling, engaging press releases and stories for our newsletter
Conduct insightful interviews with individuals who have made an impact on our mission
Write content that accurately reflects the mission and values of our organization
Collaborate with our team to brainstorm content ideas, make sure our messaging aligns with our mission, and meet deadlines
Analyze and interview sources to create insightful, compelling content
Edit and proofread content to ensure it is grammatically correct and meets high standards
Participate in team meetings and contribute to our content strategy

Skills:

Previous writing experience with high school or college media or studying journalism
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Strong interviewing and source analysis skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Understanding of journalistic ethics and standards
Strong research skills and attention to detail
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines

Pay:

Compensation is based on word count of each article written.
