Freelance Newsletter Writer

Covering Climate Now is looking for a freelance newsletter writer to draft the weekly introduction for our Climate Beat newsletter. The Climate Beat introduction is a piece of media analysis, about 500 words, that examines an aspect of the climate story that’s getting attention, or should be getting attention, and offers guidance to journalists on how to cover it in a way that helps audiences understand the magnitude of the crisis, and the solutions to address it.

About the job

Ideal candidates for the Newsletter Writer position will excel at working on tight deadlines to deliver clean copy that reflects guidance from our executive director. The submission deadline is September 18.

Position Responsibilities:

Draft the introduction to our weekly Climate Beat newsletter, with direction from CCNow’s executive director

Required Education and Experience:

2-3 years experience in reporting about climate change, especially at it relates to business and politics
Experience writing media criticism is preferred, but not required
Experiencing writing newsletters preferred

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Interest and experience in climate journalism
