About the Role:

Quartz is seeking a talented, high-metabolism business news reporter to cover market-moving developments across a range of sectors and geographies. We’ll provide a supportive environment that values entrepreneurialism and offers constructive feedback and career growth. You’ll bring strong news judgment, crisp writing, a collaborative spirit, and genuine enthusiasm for covering a wide range of business stories in real time while also homing in on a couple areas that are or become your specialty.

We’ll be looking for speed, accuracy, and creative approaches to stories and storytelling formats for covering interesting and noteworthy business topics, important earnings reports, key leadership news, market-moving developments that call for examination and explanation, and more.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Pitch, take assignments, report, and write hourly, daily, and other stories on business news, delivering high-quality and timely copy.
Help drive audience growth with your journalism by using digital best practices and innovative storytelling techniques.
Foster strong, collaborative relationships with editors and reporters across the newsroom.

Qualifications:

At least 1-3 years’ experience as a reporter for a digital news publisher. Business news experience preferred.
Ability to juggle multiple stories of different types, at different speeds, and on different topics.
At least some understanding of digital best practices — including story selection, framing, and SEO — is preferred.
A passion for hourly and daily news, and the proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

**This role is based in our New York City office. and report into the Editorial Director.

**This is a position covered under the collective bargaining agreement with the WGA-E at a minimum of $63,000.00 with a range of up to $65,000.00 annually, dependent upon years of related experience.
