This journalist works on the opinion and engagement team, building on The Tennessean's successful and award-winning efforts to tell stories for, with and by communities of color, particularly African Americans in Nashville and the state. The curator writes the weekly Black Tennessee Voices newsletter, curates related social media pages, and writes a regular column on relevant issues of the day. This journalist would be invested in the community in both in-person and virtual settings. This employee would also guide the continuation of the live annual Black Tennessee Voices Storytellers event.
This employee would also assist the opinion and engagement team on editing staff and guest columns, helping plan print sections for the USA TODAY Network Tennessee, and contribute to other community-related efforts that build on The Tennessean's long-term diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
Internally, the employee would be a prominent member of the DEI task force and coordinate and communicate with colleagues network wide.
