Group Publisher

Mullen Newspaper Co. is seeking a motivated publisher to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Southwest Montana weekly newspaper group.  Our publishers work closely with counterparts at other newspaper groups across the Rocky Mountain Northwest. The group publisher will oversee weekly newspapers in Deer Lodge, Philipsburg, Seeley Swan, and Stevensville, Montana. The parent company, Mullen Newspaper Co. is also based in Deer Lodge. This group is positioned to grow quickly with a motivated Publisher in a booming part of the Rockies. The papers are on track to finish 2022 better than 2021, and we plan for the trend to continue into 2023. The publisher must be based in one of the four offices and is expected to visit each property regularly each month. The ideal candidate will have sales, editorial, budgeting, and recruiting experience, but we are willing to train an experienced department manager looking to jump into a publisher role. This position offers a high degree of autonomy for an experienced candidate. Pay is competitive with a performance-based bonus structure. A successful publisher should expect to make $80,000-plus a year.
