Associate Editor

The Hanford Sentinel is looking for an associate editor with a commitment to local news and growing audience engagement on both print and digital platforms. The right candidate would be passionate about working with our editors to guide our newsroom in accurate, comprehensive breaking news coverage, daily general assignment and government reporting, and would work with our regional digital producer on video, audio, social media and audience development. The successful candidate will be skilled in editing, have strong news judgement, have a background in achieving audience growth through digital and print innovation, and a dedication to building and sustaining a dynamic newsroom environment. The associate editor responsibilities include some government and general assignment reporting. If you have the ability to handle multiple ongoing tasks and rapidly changing priorities, are self-motivated and highly organized, this may be the job for you! Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree in journalism and 2-5 years of newsroom experience.
