Interested in working across a portfolio of award-winning B2B brands? Haymarket Media Group is looking for a meticulous digital production editor to join its Business Media division. The role sits within the Art/Production Studio, an innovative hub of design and subbing specialists who serve 15+ brands – many of which are multi-award winners and industry leaders. The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a production editor in an online environment and will initially work on Haymarket’s flagship Planning (planningresource.co.uk) and ENDS (endsreport.com) brands.
Role Summary
The production editor will ensure that all content is engagingly written, attractively presented and error-free across websites, PDFs, bulletins, Shorthand articles and any other digital formats within Haymarket Business Media. They may also be required to compile email bulletins and ensure that they are sent on time. The production editor will be responsible for a number of core brands and will also be expected to assist on other titles within HBM, as and when required.
Key Responsibilities
Sub copy for websites and other digital formats.
Produce and edit graphs and tables in line with brands’ style guides using online graphical software tools such as Infogram and Datawrapper.
Write good, clear, “selling” copy in headlines, standfirsts and captions.
Ensure style guides and design templates are strictly adhered to.
Ensure that all copy is accurate, lively and legal.
Ensure that all copy is clearly understood. If not, seek clarification from the writer.
Be prepared to cut, clarify, rearrange or rewrite in order to achieve clear and compelling copy.
Ensure a smooth production flow and that deadlines are met on individual brands.
Manage the booking and supervision of casual workers, in conjunction with the group production director.
Liaise with editorial, sales, marketing and awards to produce schedules for online content.
Liaise with contributors over deadlines, queries etc.
Ensure casual worker timesheets are processed.
Publish, update and remove online content, in conjunction with the editorial team.
Keep abreast of real-time traffic data and make placing decisions based on this, in conjunction with the editorial team.
Compile and send email bulletins.
Troubleshoot issues with the websites and CMS, finding solutions and/or escalating as necessary.
Liaise with the editorial team to ensure content is promoted effectively.
Assist with writing promotional copy for podcasts, and upload and publish episodes.
Liaise with advertorial teams to ensure that any commercial content is formatted correctly online.
Essential Skills
Experience of Photoshop and InDesign.
Experience of online content management systems.
Proven ability to meet deadlines and cope well under pressure.
Ability and willingness to collaborate closely with colleagues in editorial, commercial, marketing etc.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
The production editor needs to be organised, meticulous, productive, motivated and quality-focused.
They must be a stickler for detail and work to the highest standards of grammar and spelling.
They will be expected to set high standards of behaviour and professionalism.
