Job Overview
The senior reporter is responsible for writing news, analysis, features and opinion articles for Third Sector. They may also be required to play a role in Third Sector live and virtual events. The senior news reporter will report to the news editor.

Key Responsibilities

Research and write news stories, analysis and feature articles for Third Sector online, including data-led journalism.
Maintain and develop key contacts with a view to creating exclusive news stories and other content.
Appear on the Third Sector Podcast where required
Create, edit and send designated bulletins.
Regularly review and react to HAI and Key Audience Group’s engagement analytics to ensure articles are delivering highly-engaging content for our audience.
Develop a thorough knowledge of the charity sector and the key issues it faces.
Attend key industry events
Support the news editor and other editors to make sure Third Sector maintains its position as the leading provider of charity sector news, analysis, opinion and features.
Monitor national media and other competitors for relevant stories.
Work to deadlines set by the news editor and other editors.
Manage columnists from their area of specialism and edit their copy.
Deputise for the news editor, or other members of the team, as and when required.
Maintain a comprehensive forward news diary and planning list in consultation with other members of the editorial team.
Make recommendations for articles and alert colleagues if they believe something could be relevant for their sections.
Support the development of live and virtual events, and chair and speak as and when required.
Maintain the highest standards of accuracy and reporting.
Maintain high standards of general behaviour, appearance and professionalism.
