Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Senior Editor to join the SEO/Editorial team. This position is located in our New York City office with two days on-site and three remote, but fully remote candidates with superior skills will be considered.
Job Overview:
Skilled editor responsible for overseeing the creation of an ongoing inventory of feature content to meet audience informational and educational needs, as well as drive traffic for a suite of 20+ clinical websites to reach a target audience of physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants/associates, pharmacists, and patients across numerous clinical specialties and therapeutic categories. (cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology/oncology, infectious disease, nephrology, neurology, etc.)
Responsibilities:
Create tiered approach to topic ideation (high-level through discretionary topics) to inform an editorial calendar
Create timeline from concept ideation through execution
Create contributor contracts as necessary (working with Contracts Administrator), to include scope of work, assignment of ownership, and compensation (among other requirements)
Partner with clinical advisor to recruit clinician contributors and execute contracts
Create and maintain ongoing vendor relationships
Assign topics to authors/vendors based on specialty/proficiency
Following article submission, fact check and edit (or assign to freelance editor) as per AMA/Haymarket style, create graphic material (if appropriate), and post in WordPress (optimized for SEO)
Manage project budget (including generation of purchase orders/goods receipts)
Partner with SEO team to ensure content is executed using marketing/SEO best practices
Monitor traffic to content
Conduct quality assurance assessment of published content to ensure functionality
Schedule and perform regular review of content to ensure relevancy and accuracy, with updates, as needed.
Skills and Requirements:
At least 5 years’ experience working at a senior editor level in a medical communications/publishing/education environment
Successful at relationship building and networking
Excellent ability to edit and fact check medical and technical materials, and quick at execution
Familiarity with AMA style
Excellent reading comprehension, listening and analytical skills, and oral and written communication skills
A successful record of handling multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines
Project management expertise a plus

The salary range for this position is $75,000–$80,000. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, skill level, functional and/or industry knowledge, education level, certifications, as well as other qualifications.
