We are looking for a senior reporter to help turbo-charge market-leading brand ENDS Europe's news offering.

Part of Haymarket Business Media – the UK’s fastest growing B2B business of scale – ENDS Europe is Europe’s environmental news service, reporting on EU and European environmental policymaking as it happens for an international audience of policymakers, influencers and industrial regulatory and sustainability managers.

Reporting to ENDS Europe‘s deputy editor, the successful candidate will be an experienced journalist, with first-class writing abilities, a meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to spot the stories that matter most to our audience's working lives.

You will be expected to write news, as well as longer pieces, such as interviews, features, and analysis. You will be responsible for bringing in scoops, writing exclusives and making a name for yourself in the sector.

In addition, you will support the deputy editor in planning, coordinating and delivering the title's news content, as well as preparing our flagship daily news bulletin.

An understanding of environmental issues or a proven interest in the area is desirable, but is not as important to the role as curiosity and a willingness to become knowledgeable about the subject matter.

Responsibilities

write news and longer-form pieces such as analysis, interviews and features
support ENDS Europe’s deputy editor in planning, coordinating and delivering the title's news content, deputising where required
support ENDS Europe's deputy editor in preparing the title’s flagship daily news bulletin
general upkeep of the ENDS Europe website, makings sure sections are updated, and that the positioning of content reflects the findings of audience engagement insights
lead on ENDS Europe social media
maintain infringements dashboard
regular travel to Brussels to represent the brand, build industry contacts and manage relationships with Brussels-based freelancers

Qualifications

Person Specification:

First-class writing skills
Excellent commissioning and copy-editing skills
Demonstrated ability to manage workflow, deadlines and ensure quality and timeliness of copy
Good understanding of media law
An analytical mind - ability to process audience engagement data, understand it and know how to apply it
Experience with analytics tools (Google Analytics, social media monitoring tools, etc.)
An interest in and experience of data journalism and infographics
Persistence and energy - monitoring and improving systems once they are set up
Clear and effective communication skills
Ability to read/speak French
