Night City Editor

New Posted 29 November 2022 | Huntington, West Virginia | HD Media

HD Media, the publisher of West Virginia's two largest dailies, is seeking a night city editor for The Herald-Dispatch in Huntington. We aren't looking for an editor alone but a leader. We want someone who's sharp-eyed and skilled, who excels under pressure and can keep the copy flowing and the night operation rolling. The Herald-Dispatch is one of the region's most respected institutions, covering the Tri-State area of southwestern West Virginia, southeastern Ohio and northeastern Kentucky and located in bustling Huntington, home to Marshall University. Shifts run from 3 to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Primary responsibilities include editing copy, planning news budgets, assisting the copy desk and proofreading pages and keeping the newspaper's website fresh and up-to-date. Additional responsibilities include planning and executing occasional special sections throughout the year, responding to breaking news in the evening, composing and scheduling social media posts and managing The Herald-Dispatch's team of reporters. The right candidate will be reliable, trustworthy and have at least three years' experience as a reporter and/or editor for a newsgathering organization. If you fit the bill, send a cover letter, resume and samples of your best work to Herald-Dispatch Editor Lauren McGill at lmcgill@hdmediallc.com and copy HD Media Vice President of News and Executive Editor Lee Wolverton at lwolverton@hdmediallc.com. Make the subject line: Night City Editor. Make your samples pdf's. Make it easy for us to access your materials.
