The Honolulu Star-Advertiser is seeking a reporter/writer with several years of daily newspaper experience to join the staff of our Local News Desk. Evidence of strong writing and critical thinking in previous reporting positions is required, along with a willingness to tackle any kind of assignment – from breaking news, to beat-reporting, to enterprise. This local news reporter will be required to integrate photo, video, and online duties as priorities in the age of multi-media news and information. An appreciation of the power of the Internet and a fresh, forward-thinking attitude about fulfilling our First Amendment responsibilities are a plus. This reporter/writer will have the ability to develop daily stories, as well as in-depth topics on longer-range projects. An ability to recognize important developments, navigate government bureaucracy and embrace real people will be essential. Good time management is important, and database-reporting skills would be helpful. Degree preferred. The Star-Advertiser, Hawaii's largest newspaper, offers a generous salary and benefits package. Please submit a resume and several published clips to Managing Editor/News Marsha McFadden, mmcfadden@staradvertiser.com.
