Editorial Design Internship

Job Description: Hour Media is proud to offer graphic design internships during all semesters. Candidate will work primarily on Hour Detroit magazine but may also assist on Detroit Design and DBusiness magazines when needed. Ideal candidates will work a minimum of 15 hours per week during fall, winter, spring or summer term. Schedules are negotiable, but a minimum three-month commitment is required. A graphic design intern will assist the art staff in day-to-day departmental functions. Individual will be responsible for gathering images and products, assist on photo shoots, design layouts, and participate in press checks.

Requirements: Ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in art or journalism; those with relevant coursework and experience will also be considered. Candidates must be proficient in professional communication, grammar and spelling, write clearly, possess good organizational skills, and be detail-oriented. They should work calmly under deadline pressure and have a pleasant, polite demeanor on the phone. The art department works at Hour Media’s Troy office and on location around metro Detroit. Candidates must have reliable transportation.
