Lead Editor, Gifts and Beauty

Wirecutter is searching for an experienced editor to focus on seasonal gift guides and help manage and grow our beauty coverage. A successful Wirecutter editor is collaborative and skilled at helping writers craft clear, efficient, engaging copy that’s helpful and fun to read. You should have excellent taste, with a knowledge of upcoming brands and the qualities that make a delightful gift. You should also be an organized project manager and should be able to juggle multiple pieces with strict deadlines. As the gifts and beauty lead editor, you will also be focused on helping launch Wirecutter’s beauty coverage, which will bring our rigorous reporting to new topics like skincare and beauty tools. You’ll work with staff and freelance writers on research-heavy guides with detailed testing, which can often take weeks or months to complete. You’ll also brainstorm, assign, and edit shorter articles—perhaps telling readers if a certain ingredient is worth the splurge, or testing contenders for the best makeup mirror—with an eye towards helping readers find the right products for them.
