Wirecutter is seeking a lead editor to grow and bring consistency to our sustainability coverage. This person will advise writers on environmental topics, contribute to and edit sustainability sections in our guides, and write short and long-form pieces about the intersection of shopping and sustainability. Our ideal candidate takes a pragmatic and empathetic approach, seeking to guide readers to practical solutions relevant for making an informed buying decision. You will cut through marketing jargon, won’t fall prey to agenda-driven advocacy—either from environmentalist or pro-industry groups—and will expertly parse research to address questions readers have about the environmental impact of their purchases (and in how they use a product). This role has the opportunity for fascinating and important reporting, and you’ll work with a group of passionate journalists who want to help people and the planet.
