Private equity firms are taking over a growing share of the tech and media industries. And yet news coverage of this sector tends to be lighter than of any other class of investor. Consider that in the past few months alone, private equity firms have either invested in or acquired “The Morning Show” producer Hello Sunshine, what’s left of Yahoo and AOL, DirecTV, Box, Cloudera and numerous other enterprise tech firms. The Information is looking for a reporter to shine a light on all this activity by bringing our brand of in-depth, smart coverage to the private equity world and its investments in tech and media. Our aim is to both break news about coming deals and the impact of existing investments, as well as to profile the power players in the sector, both the people and the firms. With that in mind, the ideal reporter will have both a track record in breaking news and a demonstrated ability to generate features, such as corporate and personal profiles. Experience covering the private equity world is preferred.
