Washington Post

Congressional Economic Policy Reporter
The Washington Post is seeking a congressional correspondent to cover budget and economic issues on Capitol Hill, a core-mission beat focused on some of the most hard-fought and important decisions in Washington. A successful job candidate for this position on the Business staff would be determined to break news and work collaboratively with colleagues on the Economics and Politics teams. Many of Congress’s most contentious debates revolve around economic policy, including the budget, taxes, the debt ceiling, government shutdowns, stimulus bills and the minimum wage. Each of these issues can consume Washington, and there are times when all are in play at once. This reporter will be at the center of these fights, decoding the nuance for experts while explaining the news to a broad group of readers. The ability to write stories with sweep and speed is paramount.
