Idaho Education News is a nonprofit, online news organization dedicated to reporting on politics and public education in Idaho. Our team of seven produces independent and thoughtful journalism. We have no paywall or advertising and are funded on grants.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Boise, Idaho, for a Politics and Education Reporter position at Idaho Education News. (There is opportunity to work remotely when writing or researching). The day-to-day tasks will include covering news related to public education policy and practice in Idaho, writing articles, attending and reporting on community meetings, and maintaining relationships with sources in the education community. This position will cover the Legislature and 2024 elections.

Qualifications

Strong writing, research, and reporting skills
Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and produce high-quality work
Experience covering education policy or political news
Excellent communication skills and ability to foster positive relationships with sources
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to collaborate with team members and work independently
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
Experience with digital reporting tools and social media platforms

$60,000/yr - $80,000/yr
