We’re looking for an editor to join our growing MedTech publication. You’ll collaborate with a team to produce coverage of the medical device and diagnostics sector by regularly editing, reporting and writing content including breaking news briefs and in-depth original features. You will work closely with reporters, edit stories, write and report news, plan projects, build relationships with sources, and help decide on coverage priorities. This position reports to the managing editor.
What you'll do:
As editor, you’ll work on shaping coverage, making freelance assignments, editing stories, sending our daily newsletter and doing some writing and reporting of your own.
Develop and shape story ideas and longer analytical pieces and projects. Work collaboratively with reporters and writers to produce these stories and edit for substance and style.
Help identify key industry storylines we can own, monitor industry developments and work with the team to plan coverage.
Track analytics to gauge what stories are resonating with readers.
Qualifications
What you can bring to the table:
At least three years' experience writing, reporting and/or editing.
Deadline-oriented time-management skills; ability to turn around stories on tight deadlines including breaking news coverage.
Strong editing, reporting and writing skills.
Strong project management skills
A track record of producing business journalism in a fast-paced news environment.
Ability to interpret and analyze business concepts, industry trends and major news stories, including M&A and financial reports.
Ability to build relationships with industry, government and other sources and grasp complex subjects related to medtech.
Strong digital news knowledge and aptitude.
Experience covering the medical device sector or healthcare industry is preferred.
A bachelor’s degree or higher in journalism, English or similar field.
Additional Information
The salary range for the role is $78,000.00 - $83,000.00 depending on experience.
