Insider is hiring a paid editorial fellow to join the Business Contributors and Freelance team in January 2023. The six-month reporting/editing fellowship is an entirely remote position based in the United States with flexibility on work location. We are also open to hybrid work from one of our offices in the U.S., including our headquarters in New York City. Business Insider’s Contributors and Freelance desk focuses on personalizing and humanizing Insider’s business coverage. The fellow will have the opportunity to source and interview people with interesting and unique success and/or business stories and then produce first-person personal essays and as-told-to pieces. This fellowship is a great opportunity for early-career journalists looking to learn and experiment with character-driven storytelling formats. The business contributors fellow will report to Jennifer Eum and should have a demonstrated interest in business, success, leadership, travel, and entrepreneurship stories, along with great interviewing skills and endless curiosity about people’s lives, careers, and stories. The ideal candidate consumes news on many different platforms (TikTok, podcasts, Instagram, Twitter, newsletters, etc.), has a strong understanding of trending news and pop culture, and can identify the sources and stories that appeal to a broad audience.
