Fellow, Military and Defense (JANUARY 2023)

Insider is hiring a fellow to join our military and defense team. As a defense fellow, you will tell interesting and meaningful stories about the US armed forces and foreign militaries and about the conflicts and crises in which they’re engaged. Fellows are expected to cover daily news about global tensions and crises, confrontations and clashes, war and weaponry, and people and culture, among other important defense issues.They quickly produce written and visual features on military matters that are relevant and accessible to a general audience. A fellow on the military and defense team should have excellent writing skills and be comfortable covering military gear, systems, and service members, be able to spot news of interest, be eager to jump on stories when assigned, and be capable of balancing quick news hits with longer features and analysis. Most importantly, you should have a passion for the news and telling military stories. This position may include some travel to cover military stories.
