Airliner World is the world’s biggest selling civil aviation magazine; we are looking for an editor that must have a passion for civil aviation and be a subject matter expert.
The right candidate will be an experienced journalist with excellent organisation and project management skills, and of course the ability to meet the needs of the reader.
The successful candidate will take on the role of editor on one of Key Publishing flagship aviation magazines, ensuring every issue is published on time, on budget and to the highest standards.
Working with the current editorial team, you will be responsible for producing a 12-month rolling editorial plan across both the print and digital.
The work also involves managing and briefing your contributors, to ensure that you are delivering the content that your readers want.
Key accountabilities / responsibilities
Create market-leading content for magazines, websites, data products and social media channels that beat targeted performance metrics
Engage strong with core audiences
Support aviation events programme (weekend attendance in some cases)
Oversee the costing and payment of contributors who will be paid at the going rate and arrange for safe return of material upon production/rejection
Improve the quality and range of contributor material
Maintain/oversee relevant budgets
Plan/maintain/control/monitor content creation to ensure despatch on designated deadlines to distinct platforms
Assess manuscripts/other contributions and ascertain their suitability or need for further research/photography/other images for use
Proactively support and attend shows, events and other related activities as appropriate to the development of the brand
Maintain a system of contacts, which will be the property of Key Publishing Limited
Keep up to date with developments in the subject sector, especially news and trends
Plan/maintain/control/monitor content creation across the team to ensure maximum efficiency of output against defined objectives, maximising all differentiation to make each brand distinct in its market
