Casual Content Producer (Kidspot)

Kidspot.com.au has an exciting new opportunity for a dedicated journalist to join our growing editorial team on a casual basis. As Australia's leading parenting news site, Kidspot is a trusted and reliable source for more than three million Aussies every month. Fantastic work culture, collaborative environment and some of the best editors and reporters in digital news.

Reporting to the Editor and working closely with the Social Media Editor, the position is a vital part of our editorial team, assisting with both written content and helping to drive audience growth across our various social platforms. A hands-on role, you’ll have a background in storytelling, as well as ideally video and social media experience. You’ll also work in collaboration with the section editors across a range of lifestyle, parenting and news content.

Responsibilities
Produce articles based on news of the day, with a focus on lifestyle and parenting content.
Work closely with the section editors and other members of the editorial team to bring stories to life.
Come up with original content ideas for Kidspot’s various social media platforms.
Trawl social media channels daily for strong exclusives, features, viral posts and trending content.
Be able to work quickly and independently in a fast-paced news environment with a varied day-to-day schedule.
Possible weekend availability a bonus.

Who are you?
Experience in a digital newsroom and skilled in social media strategy preferable.
Have a solid understanding of social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
Strong writing and storytelling skills with an interest in news, lifestyle and parenting related content.
Ability to write breaking news, when necessary.
Understanding of SEO.
Collaborative working approach.
Strong communication and time management skills.
