As a Senior Editor you will be working on the Editing team for the Wildest and Team that and you will report directly to the Editorial Director.

Expert advice columns. Nutrition calculators. 24/7 vet access. Q&As with celebrity pet parents. You’ll also find astrology content for cat lovers and guides to dog-friendly happy hours. Because, frankly, those are important too.

HOW YOU’LL HELP EVERYONE PET PARENT LIKE A PRO

Specifically

Are you passionate about pets and pop culture. The Wildest is looking for an experienced Managing Editor to support the Editorial Director in overseeing the day-to-day publishing of content to the site (including a mix of pet care advice, celebrity interviews, and commerce content) as well as pitch and produce verticals that build brand awareness and drive engagement with our millennial pet parent audience.

Manage senior and associate editors in the creation and execution of the editorial calendar, top edit and publish articles that meet The Wildest’s brand voice and style guidelines

Keep finger on the pulse of pet care and adoption/rescue industries, pop culture, millennial and Gen-Z trends; sweep daily for on brand, on trend news that will resonate with millennial pet parents
Pitch and produce content franchises that will build brand recognition
Identify and implement tactics and to drive reader engagement and conversion
Pitch and book monthly cover stars
Write credible and compelling articles as needed
Work with SEO Manager to ensure editorial team is optimizing all content for SEO and Google’s E-E-A-T guidelines
Brief creative team on image selection
Pitch and contribute adoption/rescue content to sister brand Adopt a Pet; identify cross-brand content opportunities
Periodically source new freelance writers with diverse and dynamic voices
Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Editorial Director

Technical Skills

5+ years of editorial experience at a fashion/culture publication or pet care content site (includes coaching freelance writers through drafts)
Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills (with writing clips)
Self-starter who can prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Creative thinker who can ideate content topics to reach new audiences and drive traffic
Familiarity with publishing content in a CMS, e.g. WordPress/Contentful
Foundational knowledge of SEO best practices
Foundational knowledge of Google Analytics and synthesizing/reporting on organic content traffic data preferred
You are passionate about pets and pop culture!
Bonus points: You come with freelance writer and/or PR contacts in pop culture (TV, music, fashion)

Compensation

The New York, New York base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Total compensation will include bonus incentives and benefits. Kinship provides Full Time Employees (Associates) benefits which may include health insurance, retirement plan benefits, eligibility for Mars discounts, unlimited paid time off and access to other benefit programs. Eligibility for Kinship benefits is determined under the terms of the applicable Kinship Benefits plan at a person's date of hire.
