Lake County & Education Reporter

The Madison Daily Leader (Madison, S. Dakota), a five-day a week newspaper, has a full-time reporter position available. This position covers the Lake County County Commission and Madison Central School District in addition to smaller area communities and other general assignment and special section stories. The ideal candidate will have a journalism or related degree, a minimum of two years professional reporting experience, and the ability to report a story (with photos) in a compelling and factual way with accuracy a priority. Social media and digital experience are key to being successful in our expanding communication avenues. InDesign and Photoshop skills are a plus! Schedule will include some evening meetings and the occasional weekend assignment based on community events. Madison offers a number of recreational opportunities as it is located between two lakes, has a lengthy walking trail and a well-equipped community center. Dakota State University offers collegiate level sports, cultural events and continuing education, and Sioux Falls is an easy 40-minute drive for a big-city experience.
