Breaking News Reporter

The Las Vegas Sun and Greenspun Media Group (GMG) are seeking a Breaking News Reporter with an emphasis on coverage of crime and courts in the local Las Vegas community.

The ideal candidate will have the flexibility to perform in a fast-paced environment, whether it be reporting from a crime scene, writing a weather story or covering an election watch party. No two days are alike, especially in a city such as Las Vegas.

We want a reporter who is curious and looks to expand our coverage of the police department and courts system. This is a job for an energetic reporter who takes pride in telling the story of the victim.

We are looking for someone who is as comfortable covering a news conference as they are interviewing lawmakers and officials.

If something significant happens in Las Vegas, you’ll have a chance to report on it. Your work will also appear in Las Vegas Weekly, the city’s leading news, arts, entertainment and culture publication.

The successful candidate will have at least two years of experience covering news in a midsize city or large metro area, a strong grasp of social media and the ability to produce content ranging from breaking news to long-form narratives.

In addition, the candidate will have excellent writing skills, a competitive nature, a collaborative personality and the ability to self-direct.
