The Las Vegas Sun is searching for a Copy Editor who can thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment for our print and web operations.
The ideal candidate must be a self-starter who possesses strong copy editing skills, has layout and design experience, and is proficient in InDesign. Experience with Photoshop is a plus.
Candidates ideally will have at least three years of experience as a Copy Editor for a professional news publication, be competent in Associated Press style and have an understanding of best editorial practices.
They must possess strong news judgment and the ability to make real-time decisions. Wire-editing experience is a must.
Job duties include:
Editing stories and fact checking.
Selecting wire copy.
Writing headlines.
Designing and building pages.
Managing the homepage.
Communicating and planning with editors.
The shift for this position is Tuesday through Saturday. You’ll be web editor on Saturday, and must have the ability to edit breaking news and light experience with sports copy.
