The Casper Star-Tribune, Wyoming’s statewide newspaper, is seeking a talented reporter with strong investigative, storytelling and data journalism skills to join our team. As our education reporter, you’ll be helping to lead the conversation on education in the Cowboy State, from preschool to the University of Wyoming. This means writing stories about an education system confronting a budget crisis, experiencing teacher retention problems and navigating conflicts over what should be taught in the classroom. On the health beat, you’ll cover everything from Medicaid expansion to COVID-19. You’ll have the chance to cover some of the state’s biggest health stories while working in a newsroom that prioritizes mentorship, teamwork and growth. We’re looking for someone who is equally comfortable jumping on breaking news and poring over statistics. The ideal candidate is also someone who loves telling a great story. They possess the reporting skills to synthesize data and the writing chops to craft long-form stories that resonate with readers. The successful candidate will have excellent time-management and organizational skills, including the ability to work under deadline pressure. Flexibility is critical.
