The Times-News of Twin Falls, Idaho, is seeking a talented reporter to join our news staff in reporting sports news in south-central Idaho. Anyone can write a game story, but we want a multi-faceted reporter who will go beyond the box scores for human interest and issue stories while breaking news and living on the leading edge of our organization’s digital-first mentality. We aim to be first and best, both locally and statewide. Our sports alumni have gone on to work in larger Western newspapers like Boise and Colorado Springs, while news alums have worked in media markets like Madison, Wis. and Chicago. Twin Falls is a growing community of 50,000 people, with more than 185,000 people residing within our coverage area. We cover a perennial NJCAA power in the College of Southern Idaho and 28 high schools. Chobani built the world's largest yogurt factory here, and Clif Bar recently opened its first in-house bakery here. We are a family-friendly and affordable community with access to world-class skiing, and the best trout stream in the West an hour drive from your front door, not to mention access to kayaking, hiking, biking, rock climbing and hunting in all directions. Downtown Twin Falls recently had a $17 million facelift, with new restaurants and shops opening all the time. We are two hours from Boise and three hours from Salt Lake City. The successful applicant will need to be comfortable using social media to promote stories, be self-motivated, hyper-organized, innovative and creative, able to manage multiple deadlines and multiple priorities while maintaining professionalism in the workplace. The successful applicant should possess a bachelor's degree in journalism or related field or equivalent hands-on experience. Photography skills are a plus
