The Los Angeles Times is seeking an editor to oversee a team of journalists charged with producing visual work that informs and engages our readers.
The editor will serve as a deputy head of our Data and Graphics Department, a team of reporters and computer programmers in The Times newsroom that works to collect, organize, analyze and present structured data. Its journalism has attracted millions of readers and helped win some of our industry’s highest awards.
This management job calls for a leader eager to rally a talented team of graphics reporters and drive striking coverage of our newsroom’s biggest storylines. The chief responsibility will be assigning, organizing and editing data visualizations, graphical illustrations and interactive storiesthat are substantial enough to stand on their own.
Strong candidates will have a track record of producing compelling digital work, a reputation for collegiality and, above all, a passion for news. Management experience is preferred.
