Los Angeles Times

Deputy Features Editor
The Los Angeles Times is seeking an ambitious and experienced deputy editor for its Features team. The deputy editor will work closely with the creative director and the Features editor to help grow features coverage; redouble our focus to authentically capture life and style in Los Angeles by telling stories that reflect the diversity and multifaceted brilliance of the city; and highlight the best experiences L.A. and the West have to offer. This is a management position. The deputy editor will manage staff and freelancers, edit, collaborate with teams across the newsroom and play a key role in the strategic direction of our coverage. This editor should be familiar with the key brands and voices of the L.A. Times and Features and bring ideas for building on franchises such as Plant PPL, L.A. Affairs and Image. The editor should be comfortable working with newsroom colleagues, but also with collaborators in product development, audience data, business development and more. The ideal candidate will have strong journalistic credentials, an experimental sensibility, the ability to think strategically about digital features coverage and a willingness to meet L.A. Times audiences’ information needs in an engaging, high-impact way.
