The Los Angeles Times is looking for a reporter to focus on federal healthcare policy and its impact on the lives of people in California and the nation. This is a critical beat as President Joe Biden has said that he will make addressing racial health disparities a priority in his administration and his Health and Human Services secretary is a former leader in California. We are looking for a reporter who can drill deep into these policies to show their impact on people in California and the nation, exposing the weaknesses in the system. The successful candidate should be able to balance daily, enterprise and accountability reporting, with a deep passion for the subject as well as a proven ability to land scoops and produce sharp enterprise with compelling, accurate writing under demanding deadlines. A knowledge of public records and data journalism is a plus.
