Managing Editor

The Greenwood Commonwealth, a five-day AM daily in the Mississippi Delta, is looking for a versatile managing editor to assume the leadership of our newsroom, which includes five full-time and two part-time journalists, plus a few freelancers.

The managing editor's job is a good fit for someone who enjoys wearing a lot of hats: writer, page designer, copy editor and sometimes coach to young reporters. Experience with both hard and softer (lifestyles) news helpful. Good working knowledge of Quark Xpress or Adobe InDesign essential.

The Commonwealth and its parent company, Emmerich Newspapers, are heavily invested in making the digital transformation while also putting a high priority on maintaining a quality print product. The print edition is distributed Tuesday through Saturday. The Commonwealth also publishes a quarterly magazine, Leflore Illustrated.
