Gear Patrol Studios, the branded content studio and creative partnerships arm of Gear Patrol, is seeking an experienced Managing Editor. This critical role brings editorial and executional excellence to our internal teams and advertising partners.
Qualified candidates must have excellent communication and project management skills. They will have a clear professional history of breaking down complex challenges into digestible and repeatable processes as well as managing growing teams.
They must also be creative thinkers and problem solvers capable of developing new approaches to address evolving needs and strategies. Finally, they must be natural, confident leaders, capable of teaching others essential skills to help them perform at their peak. A typical day will include everything from writing and editing digital content to interfacing with our in-house creative team and managing the success of our franchises.

The role reports to the Director of Branded Content, Gear Patrol Studios, and works closely with all direct team members as well as cross-functionally with members of the commercial, creative, corporate, and content teams.
Role Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and refine processes and procedures that enable Gear Patrol Studios to effectively manage a high volume of work and deliver best-in-class branded content for our audience and advertisers
Partner with the Campaign Managers to ensure campaign copy requirements are planned for and delivered in unison with broader campaign deliverables.
Work cross-functionally with Revenue Operations, Creative, and other department leads to build a culture of effective, open communication
Be the “air traffic controller” for all things written content within Gear Patrol Studios — continually maintain a 10,000-foot view of the department’s editorial workload, flag at-risk projects, and ensure all team members are pulling in the same direction to ensure deadlines are met
Continuously track and report on custom article performance; develop benchmarks to ensure campaigns are optimized for key performance metrics.
Write and edit daily sponsored franchises on digital, email and social platforms — maintaining a consistent voice and style across each.
Make and manage all writing assignments to both internal staff and freelance contributors
Write, edit and produce branded articles and content as necessary.
Uphold the content mix in sponsored franchises, making sure it's aligned with coverage across other vertices and franchises at Gear Patrol.
Keep a watchful eye over how GPS content interacts with GP editorial content.
Think creatively and own the promotion/success of franchises.
Interface with the broader content team to align on shared initiatives and improve operational efficiency.
Contribute to the pre-sale pitch and ideation process when needed.
Monitor the competitive set and identify novel concepts that can be adapted and applied to Gear Patrol Studios
Role Requirements
4-6 years of experience working at a digital media company in a writing, editing and content production role
Strong project management skills and familiarity with project management software such as, Asana, Trello, BaseCamp etc.
Strong creative thinking skills.
A strong understanding of current media business models, KPIs and metrics.
Experience with popular analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, etc.
A highly organized, detail-oriented approach to work.
The ability to work efficiently under pressure and to take feedback constructively.
A solutions-first mindedness to projects, responsibilities, and challenges.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000, depending on candidate experience. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; the associated discipline; market considerations; budgetary considerations; geographical considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee's/applicant's background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
