Applications are being accepted for the position of managing editor at The New Pine Plains Herald, a hyperlocal, not-for-profit online news source serving Pine Plains, N.Y., and four adjacent towns in the Hudson Valley. The Herald is just a year old; this is a real opportunity to build and shape a publication from the ground up. A background in journalism or related fields is required, plus experience in news writing, editing and running a staff. The managing editor will work a 30-hour week and will not only have to write and edit stories but also oversee the quality and design of the site and guide a highly motivated (if largely volunteer) staff. The salary range is between $35,000 and $40,000, and benefits include medical, dental and vision. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status. Candidates should submit resume, cover letter and writing and/or layout samples to Hank Hersch, president of the board, at: hank.hersch@newpineplainsherald.org
