Money & Markets Writer
MarketWatch seeks a reporter to build a new beat at the corner of Wall Street and WallStreetBets. This writer should relish telling stories with a hammer, bring a punchy voice and wicked sense of the absurd to bear on both the big players in finance and the brash new Internet culture of traders reshaping markets. Among the topics to tackle: the future of trading and market structure, the interplay of supersized valuations, algorithms, memes, regulators, SPACs, and wackos.

The ideal candidate: 1. can bang out smart angles on big news as it unfolds, while also juggling short and medium term features and columns. 2. Can distill complex topics into sharp, conversational writing for a large general audience in a manner that informs and delights.

This reporter must be willing to experiment with new formats and platforms for telling stories, willing to chip in on breaking news as part of a collaborative newsroom.
