Marketing and Brand Management invites applications for a Media Information Specialist to join their team. The University of Montana’s (UM) Marketing and Communications department is responsible for communicating news and updates to the campus community and external parties on a regular basis. This position will primarily focus on internal campus communications. In addition to managing UM’s internal communication portfolio, this position will work with a team to author original news content, newsletter copy, and other written university materials. The Media Information Specialist is responsible for the production the University's employee newsletter, UM Today, as well as regularly cadenced student and parent newsletters. The individual assigned to this position will help author the University's employee newsletter, UM Today, as well as regularly cadenced student and parent newsletters. The position will also coordinate the preparation production, and distribution of written content through the University, while maintaining and ensuring the UM brand and written voice. This includes identifying and composing diverse stories through the UM News Service; supporting the creation and editing of University-wide communications; and other content platforms when requested, including pieces for Admissions and Marketing. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications, this position will be an active, engaged lead in all phases of University communication efforts. This person is responsible for identifying stories that reflect the University’s brand and provide strategic communications to statewide stakeholders and media. The position will identify stories of importance and impact to produce with guidance from the Strategic Communications Director. The position will organize photography to secure professional, timely and meaningful content that will demonstrate and buoy the University’s mission in feature stories. Because this position will be in close contact with professionals on-and-off campus, the position requires confidentiality, tact, sensitivity, and professionalism.
